A homeowner’s association (HOA) plays an important role in keeping up the standards of a community to maintain a consistent look and ensure that no poorly managed home lowers the property value of its neighbors. At the same time, most of us have either had uncomfortable run-ins with our HOA or heard horror stories from friends and family.
If you are planning a remodel in 2016, you may need to run your plans by and receive approval from your HOA, especially if you plan on changing the footprint and/or the exterior of your home. Review your HOA guidelines to determine whether the HOA has to sign off. If so, make sure the design and remodel company you choose has experience working with HOAs. Your design and remodel company will need to draw up plans to present to your HOA and will need to address any questions or concerns from the board. This isn’t something most homeowners think about when they hire a remodeling company, but it could be an important part of your remodel!
At USI Design & Remodel, we have experience working with HOAs throughout Dallas and Forth Worth. Contact us for a project quote.
